Unvented cylinder leaking from top rim/edge

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.45 PM

Ariston unvented hot water cylinder has started to leak water from the top rim (where the side wall and the top plastic dome cover meet). The water appear to be leaking from somewhere along this rim. There are no pipes running into the top of the unit. The water is running down the side of the cylinder and onto the floor underneath. Is this something that can be repaired/fixed rather than replacing the entire cylinder?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would require to view the leak to ascertain if the cylinder can be repaired or needs to be replaced

you should get a g3 registered plumber to look at it as soon as is possible.

It sounds like it may have split but you will need a plumber who has their unvented qualifications to investigate.

Hi Praks, Ariston have a 10 year warranty on their cylinders if I’m correct. I’d give them a call direct and let them know there’s a problem with their product as from what you’re saying it’s not an installation issue (no leak from pipework) they have to honour their word/policy on that particular product. Hope this helps
