Kitchen tap backnut

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.45 PM

I have a kitchen mixer tap to replace like for like. The brass nut requires a 35mm tap spanner. Space is too tight for sprung type of basin spanner which would be the only thing that fits, other than a box spanner which If I could find the right size would require cutting the flexible tap connectors first which I’d rather not do. Any suggestions Thanks

They variety, standard ‘duck foot’ and box spannerwon’t always fit ( European Dixie’s ~ and not always the same!) . 3 choices, Comprehensive set of box spanner’s. Struggle on or dump the job! Monument basin wrench with it’s slim jaws, or spring loaded hence the slimmer jaw~ ask my son, he uses nothing more since he was shown. Any advance?

Nerrad tools I have a set there’s no inaccessible area with this set and it covers the entire range of nut sizes for taps it has a ratchet wrench with telescopic extension and universal joint for awkward angles, plumbing is about problem solving if the tap was put in it can be taken out and replaced with another regardless it may just take a bit of thought and the willingness to solve the problem. I’ve removed and replaced taps in the most awkward places with that tool set. It’s expensive kit but it pays for itself like all our tools do.

I’m doing this type of stuff everyday. Sometimes, it’s easier to disconnect the waste and the tap connections and carefully remove the sink from the worktop. Then you have easy access to remove and replace the tap before fitting the sink back into the worktop.
