If you are changing from a gas cooker to an electric cooker, you will need to disconnect the gas supply to the cooker in order to ensure safety. Simply turning off the gas supply valve is not sufficient, as the valve could be accidentally turned on again, leading to a gas leak and potential danger. Therefore, you should have a qualified professional, such as a Gas Safe registered engineer or a licensed plumber, come to your home to disconnect the gas supply and cap off the gas line. This will ensure that the gas supply is fully cut off from the cooker and no gas can leak into your home. Once the gas supply has been disconnected and capped off, you can then proceed with installing your electric cooker. It's important to note that you should also have a qualified electrician install the new electric cooker, as there may be electrical wiring or other issues that need to be addressed during the installation process
