Toilet flush has too much give

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.51 PM

Hi all. I’ve had a close coupled toilet fitted last week. The flush seems to have too much ‘slack’ basically you have to push it all the way down in order to get it to flush. It’s got too much give (hard to explain - I’ve got a video but don’t know if I can upload) imagine if the cistern had no water and the flush would be ‘slack’ well it’s like that. It’s a double flush button as standard. Is this right? I don’t think it is! Many thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Probably the push rods on the button are too short to make the full flush

Either the rods are too short/broken or they may need adjusting - double flush buttons are standard nowadays, should be indicated by normally one dot or two dots, the lower when pressed is water saving and dispenses around a half flush.

That is a good answer and could be correct. But without looking at the toilet flush to see if has been fitted correctly who nows lol

The buttons on the cistern have adjustable rods attached to them. Theses just need a little adjustment so the slack is removed. Just call the tradesman who installed it who should be more than happy to come have a look and adjust if that’s the case. 🙂
