Securing Wall Plate without straps
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.49 PM
Hi guys, please help and if possible call me to discuss, which would be really helpful (07798838562). Long story short... I want to secure a wall plate to a building (brick cavity walls) without using straps if possible. The building is not subject to Building regs. If it can be done, please provide as much info as possible in detail (length and width of screws and/or nails to be used, at what centres etc) Thanks guys really appreciated

Wall straps are always the best! However 150mm screws through the plate can achieve a good fixing.

If not using wall straps then make sure you put plenty of mortar under the plates and screw down with a 4"screw most houses pre 1900s where built with out straps so no difference really.
