Damp and mould in top corner of bungalow bedroom
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.49 PM
My elderly mum has damp and mould in the top corner of her bungalow bedroom, its about 30 years old. Im thinking do i need an air brick or something else? Its a semi detatched bungalow and its on the detatched side only. Also all the other bungalows on her street have air bricks but not my mum and no one has blocked them whilst my mum has been living there. Thanks

It will definitely help with a air brick put in place also be best to check if any leaks are coming from the loft

The air brick will help but if there is signs of water, it’s best to check for any leaks.

There is more and likely a hole in the roof felt and the water is leaking through, best to get the roof checked out before it turns in to a bigger problem, but yeah air bricks will help to ventilate the house and cavity.

Air bricks will reduce moisture build up so will help but if one hasn't been there all along and it has been fine then the problem is with the felt/roof above.
