Windows & Door fitting

My upvc patio door won't lock from the outside but can't seem to adjust

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.49 PM

The door locks from the inside, and locks fine from outside if the door is open. So it seems the mechanism is fine. I suspect the door has dropped / is misaligned in some way. I have located the sockets on each or the three hinges, but I literally can't fit the appropriate diameter allan key in the gap between the edge of the door and the wall because it's too narrow. How do I adjust it? Thanks

Hi there, if the door has dropped you will most likely need to take the beads out around the glas and check that it has been packed correctly (toe and heeled) this is often the problem with doors dropping. Usually if it’s lifted on the top corner it will allow the door to work great again 👍🏻 Hope this helps

Hi sometimes the hindges open up so you can see the screw mechanism inside if so you can some times adjust this way if you can’t get your Allen key in from the side.

The glass has not been packed properly when glazing in the corners to prevent them from dropping

Hi there, if the glass has been fitted poorly/incorrectly with packers in the wrong corners then you will need to remove beads and pack correctly to lift the door up! Hope this helps
