OSB board internal wall then plasterboard?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.45 PM

Hi all, looking for some advice currently in the process of finishing my extension I have thermalite block inner course rather than dot and dab plasterboard, I was wondering if I can fix OSB board straight to the thermalite block work then fix plasterboard on the OSB board prior to plastering? Thinking this might give better strength when fixing kitchen cupboards to the walls? Some walls will be batten then plasterboard to accommodate pipework. Any help/advice would be much appreciated Regards Rhys

Yes that should be fine as long as you don’t lose the level and square for the extension.

Hello Rhys Yes this would be perfectly fine. Id also think about sticking the OSB boards to the thermalite blocks just to make sure you get a good fix. Id use something like CT1 or similar. Sometimes mechanical fixings in thermalites can come loose. Hope this helps #ryderpropertyimprovements

No need to ply. Make a continuous line of plasterboard adhesive at the height or wall and floor units making for a solid fixing.
