Windows & Door fitting

Bifold door sill leaking at the ends.

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.45 PM

When it rains the bricks, render and indoor concrete floor is wet around the corners of the bifold door. I have poured water on the track and it is visibly clear it starts to dampen straight away and water runs from off the bricks underneath too (on the corner edge, middje is fine) water does also run out the correct drainage holes too. Is there a way to fix this with taking the door and sill out.

There is a drainage channel in the cill. The ends of the channel should be blocked with silicone, yours is not. You could drill a hole either end of the base of the frame (the thermal break) and fill the chamnel with silicone like that.

It sounds like the cill hasn’t been sealed at the ends, the water drains through the cill because the drainage holes are under the nosing running all the way along, the doors need to be taken out seal each end of the cill with silicone and refit the doors.

If it's an aluminium bifold, it sounds like they haven't sealed the ends of the cill with silicone. If you're able to take off a cill end cap that will tell you if it's been done or not. Most but not all Ali cills require sealing at the ends. Depends if it's a drained cill or not
