Electric or wet Underfloor Heating Under carpet

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.45 PM

Planning a large refurb project but need to consider heating. Heat source pump appears to be expensive and not efficient, gas boiler and commodity prices are expensive. Only option is electric boilers with wet UFH. I’m resistant on wet under floor heating. E.g if there is a leak. Also are electric boilers efficient enough to heat water? I’ve had an electric water heating tank which took a long time to recover the heat. Any one can recommend electric ufh under carpet? Seems to be easier solution but can’t find any reviews or YouTube videos. Any help is welcome

The most efficient way would be wet UFH with a Gas boiler. Electric is way to expensive to run. With wet UFH, you needn't worry about leaks under the floor, if it's installed and tested correctly. Should be Installed with no joints under the floor, and adequately protected upon installation to ensure no damage to pipe. Then filled and flushed and Tested before any floor covering. UfH should be run at around 50 degrees c, so relatively cheap to run through a natural gas boiler.

Wet systems are miles better and cheaper to run, especially with a gas boiler. My experience with all WUNDA systems has been great as all pipework is pressurised until its connected to the manifold. Meaning you know there are no leaks under the floor. One thing to consider is not all carpets are rated for ufh so be cautious which you buy so the performance isn’t hindered.
