Central Heating

Baxi 35/60 low pressure/ pump error even at 1.5 bar, leaking even after new pump change

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 3.00 PM

Hi All, In November, my central heating was switched on for the first time in months (hot water supply was no issue). Every time the boiler was switched on, it was flashing the "low pressure/ pump fault" error and was gradually losing pressure. I could get the boiler to turn on by topping up the pressure and turning off for 1 minute and back on to reset. Discovered a small leak exiting the bottom right hand side of the boiler. Called engineer and he claimed the problem was with the pump- new pump was ordered and install arranged. On the day of installation, the pump was fitted, the (different from first time) engineer left and after 10 minutes, the boiler switched off with a flame failure fault. He returned, claimed it was the thermistor. Fitted what I believe was a thermistor then couldnt get the boiler to restart at all. Claimed the circuit board had failed but couldnt get one that day, I was then left without heating for 2.5 weeks. Another engineer comes out, fits the board and I am now back at square one. There is still a small leak coming from the bottom right hand side of the boiler (roundabout where the pump is) and I am having to top up to 1.5 bar and reset several times to get boiler to fire. The pressure drops slowly overnight, via a few drops of water, but the low pressure/ pump fault is displayed even when the pressure is over 1 bar. The engineer now wants to fit a "pressure switch" but I am still not convinced this will fix the issue (will this stop the leaking and error code?). Any suggestions would be welcome.

Sound like the pump manifold is leaking if it’s plastic or the prv, also the pressure vessel is guaranteed to need recharging as this will cause the prv to pass.

Could be leak any where on block around normally aav leak and the pressure fault could be blocked pressure sensor

When he swapped the pump he probably got your circuit board wet so probably was his fault for that. I think the original problem all along was your expansion vessel and prv. Cheap and quick easy fix so I think you might've had an engineer out that wasn't experienced enough to do the job.
