Replaced sink trap but won't reach waste pipe

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.06 PM

Hello, we've bought a house and all the under sink plumbing was dismantled. The must of removed some pieces as there wasn't enough to make a full connection. I purchased a new bowl and a half sink trap kit however it isn't quite reaching the existing main waste pipe. The waste pipe is all cementes solid and I can't amend it. I was looking at a flexi pipe to connect the end of the trap to waste however wondering if this is the best option or if there is something more solid than a flexi hose?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Some of the best traps are McAlpine traps. Instead of using the flexi hose purchase a waste pipe cutter and the appropriate fittings, pipe and solvent cement and re juggle the waste pipe accordingly this will make a much longer lasting and better job.

An M&F flexi could work for you if fitted sensibly so that it runs nicely, however, make sure that any existing pipework isn't blocked. I you don't understand the latter then I suggest you get a decent plumber in who will start again from scratch with some good quality waste fittings. I recommend using McAlpine or Multikiwk screwfit V-joint fittings as these can be easily dismantled for cleaning should there ever be a blockage. Hope this helps.
