Thermostat has to be turned up to 30 in order to get any heat

Old fashioned rotary wall mounted thermostat is having to be turned up to 30 degrees in order to the heat on at all. Boiler regularly serviced. What could be the cause please ?

Just a faulty thermostat. Have an electrician replace it.

Seems like a simple switching problem with it. Just replace it nice small easy job for electrican to change. Whilst he’s there ask him to test the wires , but by the sounds of what you have written my first guess is that temp stat is faulty.

I would suggest changing the thermostat to a more up to date version such as google nest as this will save you money in the long run.

Yeah like everyone else says, sounds like the thermostat is on its way out, either replace the thermostat or look into smart thermostat like nest installed, you get more control, accessibility over your heating and saving money 😊
