Cause of Mould in bathroom
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.06 PM
What could be the possible causes of mould/damp in first floor bathroom that is not being used. The bathroom has: Two outside walls Only a small towel radiator A working extractor fan which occasionally drips water into the bathroom And mould that keeps returning. Windows are double glazed and there is a bit of water (condensation) on the seal between the window and window sill There are no pipes in the roof above the bathroom So what on earth could be causing the mould to reappear so quickly? Thanks

This could be down to condensation, if it’s quite a cold room and not used often then that might be the case. Try opening the window slightly for air flow, using some stain block and mould remover and see how it goes.

You have two external walls which are acting as cold radiators you have Tiles the will condensate quite quickly with moisture from the air to a cold surface I agree with the previous answer open a window leave it ventilated as much as possible killing existing mole and increase the heating. This will only need to be done in the winter. You can install insulation in the walls???????
