A tradesperson has done the job rather than giving me a quote

A tradesman shortlisted went to the property to give me a quote for unblocking the drain. Without agreement, he has asked me to pay £245 as he has looked won the drain with a camera and unblocks the drain. I am concerned this is quickly becoming a conflict because the tradesman was not instructed. He was there for 5 - 10 mins according to my tenant. Please advice

if you have not instructed him to do any work then you are under no obligation to pay him, if how ever you have instructed him to camera the drain then you might be on a sticky wicket as most tradesmen will charge for using a camera you really need to be asking before making any decisions on whether they charge or not to investigate, short of that keep all communication you have with your tradesman for future reference and always get everything in writing. good luck Alex
