Material to cover up entrance to loft

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.51 PM

Hello, There is an entrance to my loft via the main bedroom in my house and I am concerned it is the reason a lot of heat is being lost in the bedroom. The staircase is heavy duty and fixed and the entrance is open, meaning that there isn’t the ability to close it. Until I get a permanent solution, what household materials / cheap materials could I use to try and cover the gap to at least keep some heat in the bedroom? Thanks, Nathan

As a temporary solution you could but a sheet of polystyrene insulation from Wickes for a few quid , cut down and cover , this is only temporary but will reduce the heat loss , it's a lot cheaper that celotex or similar materials
