Due to a water leak I have recently started redecorating my front room, however as I wasn't sure how much time I would have to complete the project I have painted the walls & the ceiling as these were water stained but didn't bother with the woodwork or trim (window frame, skirting board & picture rail). I know ideally these should have been done first but now the walls and ceiling are (almost) finished, the trim looks a bit tired and I would like to sand and paint these too. Am I going to have any major issues? Will yellow frog tape be ok to use on the just painted walls?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
✔️ You have painted in the correct order. Woodwork is best done after the walls or else spray from the roller would land on sills & skirtings etc.
So carefully lightly sand & paint, if you can do straights line without masking then great, or if you use the Yellow 🐸 then ensure you remove immediately after painting.
For bottoms of skirting use a stronger tape & run along length of carpet & press it down so you can get brush down as far as possible. Again remove immediately after painting. The tape will also save getting dust & particles on your brush.
Dulux Decorating Centres also sell a Pink low tack version for delicate/new painted surfaces.
yeah ideally you should have done this all things along with the walls But as you are already above it so yeah you can still do it .it won't create much of problems but bit of time consuming.you can use frogetape(green) for better results.hope this will help
thank you
When I mask up between carpet and bottom of skirting I usually overlap on to the skirting by about one or two mil. Doing this allows you to run a scraper along and tuck the overlap between the skirting and the edge of the carpet and you shouldn’t get any paint on the carpet.
As long as the newly painted walls are dried for 24hrs OK to use.
Either remove frog tape immediately after painting or, also leave for 24hrs before removal
