Radiator under shower
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.50 PM
We have a small shower room which has an Electric Shower, toilet and sink. There is a Summer/Winter radiator, but it is behind the door. Would I be ok to fit a standard Radiator directly under the shower. The radiator would be heated off our boiler so not Electric. I would need the existing pipes extending round from the door. Just wondered if there's any reason I can't get this done. Shower is not used much but would make a good clothes drying area.

Hi Paul, it isn't advisable to put a radiator in a shower, the radiator will be damaged by water and soap. Soap is corrosive and will eat into the coating. After a while, your radiator will start to show rust marks and begin to stop working properly. And would void any warranty.

Hi Paul,Installation of radiator under shower is not advisable because radiator is made up off metal if you fit it in corrosive atmosphere like soap and water can cause damage the protected covering of radiator eventually cause leaks. Hope this might help you. Thanks.

I cant see why there would be a huge issue with putting a bathroom suitable radiator within a shower another example at the other end of the bath as long as the location is free from direct splashing this shouldnt be any more at risk of degrading over time as any other rad within a bathroom.. towel rails are designed to dry wet towels within a bathroom, but if you plan to dry clothes on radiators in other parts of the property then there is a risk of excess moisture build up that can lead to condensation/mould, that said always consult the manufactures instructions for further guidance.
