Gas supply for rangecooker

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.50 PM

Currently have a gas hob and hoping to get a rangecooker with our kitchen renovation, I assume the gas safe registered person will check the models recommended gas supply, the question I have is, if the supply wasn’t going to be sufficient, it a particularly big job to increase/change? Could they do it there and then? Thanks in advice pros!!! Cheers Ben

The gas engineer should check the cooker manufacturers instructions before fitting. They should also check that the gas supply is adequate for the cooker and any other gas appliances in the property. Ie boiler gas fire if one etc etc

Gas engineers should carry out a 'pipe sizing' exercise when installing a higher kilowatt appliance to ensure that the existing gas carcase has sufficient enough volume of gas to meet the demand, not just your new cooker but they should know this when they attend. This is very important exercise to ensure that every gas appliance in your home is not under gased!

Hi there, You’ll have to do a pipe size calculation to determine if the pipe is adequate, You’ll more than likely get a gas safe engineer to fit the cooker who won’t do this ! Best thing to do is get a reputable company to undertake the work, cheapest is not always the best

The range cooker will need a 15mm gas pipe to supply it. So if your not moving the location of the cooker from where your Hob is currently and the hob has a 15mm supply you should be fine.
