Cancelled Job due to specific requirements not displayed in job request

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.49 PM

Peter arrived on time at my house. We had to cancel the job as my description wasn’t specific to the work required and is much more specialised, therefore Peter was unable to carry out the work

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Heather , This does happpen sometimes as ive had jobs were the client wants me to do other DIY jobs like replace door handles and new locks which was not in the job posting. Was your post just for painting or was it somthing else like coving prehaps? I like to get as much detail before i jump into a job even the little things make a impact before any project gets underway. SAM

Hi Heather, it is never easy giving a full description of works to be carried out and I appreciate the difficulties in doing so. I can turn my hand to most things having grown up in the trade and my father being on sites, even brick laying! Ideally I always like to come on site and have a look at the works or, in todays technology world FaceTime and have a look at the works together, helps with being flexible around working times for us both.

You should always discuss the job fully at the place or by message. Then trader should quote you for discussed job. And if there is any extra job it is extra pay. By your story I can see that there have been some kind of misunderstanding between you and trader. Never anything like that happened to me.

Hi heather, it would be ideal if a full description of the work needed to be done was on the job sheet as I can then turn up fully prepared and ready to get straight to work. I would usually have a rough plan of how I would approach the job depending on the description so having a specific job sheet does help. On the other hand if it is only a few minor extra jobs that need to be carried out I would usually be able to complete them for you. Thanks
