Flat roof to roof terrace
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.49 PM
Hello, My current flat roof bungalow need to be resurfaced in Portsmouth. I wonder how much will cost if I convert it to a roof terrace with fences around roof and stair access from the inside of the bungalow? It about 30sqm. How long will the project take and can people live in it when the roof work take place? Does it need planning permission? Any recommendations please Many thanks

Hi , the cost would depend on the quality of materials used either way it definitely wouldn’t come cheap! Perhaps 15k maybe.
I’d advise not to live in the property at the time due to safety reasons.
Don’t think you need planning permission.
Hope this helps

I’m confident we could build the subframe in advance of removing the existing roof, having the materials ready to build and have it watertight in one day, saving any weather issues. We have done this few times before now. Sunny day would be ideal. 😎 can’t see why this would need planning if you are replacing an existing roof, be a good idea to check with local planing authority & install a warm roof to conform to building control.
