Tiling

Tiles are moving approx 1mm after laying, grout cracks and soft grout

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.32 PM

My tillers have just completed tiling a wetroom and converting it from a bathroom and we discovered serious problems with the way they made this job. When you step on the tiles, they're moving approx 1mm back and forth and the grout between them cracked and is soft. What's the best way to fix this situation?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The tradesman that done the tiling May of used the wrong adhesive i.e the ready mixed adhesive that will only set when exposed to air and shouldn’t be used on large floor tiles.this is probably why the floor tiles are still moving, unfortunately it need lifting up and re laying

Something has obviously gone on here. Either the wet room tray hasn’t been supported properly and that is flexing. If this is the issue then this has been installed incorrectly. If it’s the tile adhesive that has not taken properly then they will need to be re laid. Thanks Kieran
