Removal of an old redundant water main pipe, how/who?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.32 PM
I have recently purchased a house and I have an old copper water main pipe in the kitchen. It is next to the new plastic pipe, it has a stop tap and it has a soldered cap on it. I would like to totally remove it but is this something United utilities will do or not? The house is a 1930s semi, looking at the water search from the house purchase, the water main comes into my property but shows no continued route into next door unlike the vast majority of the street

most utility companies will not carry out works beyond their water meter ,you will need a plumber to advise you.

Any water board companies like Thames Water and United Utilities wouldn't deal with this as its beyond there water meter.
You will need advise of a plumber.
