Surface mounted sockets

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.44 PM

Hi I am in the process of redecorating my daughter’s bedroom and I would like her new bed to sit flush against a wall but there is a surface mounted double socket on the wall in question. Am I able to remove the SMS and then just add a flush 2 gang blanking plate where the SMS is? We don’t need use of this socket so just want the easiest way to “block it off” so the bed can sit flush against the wall so to speak. Thank you!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

No you will need to chop the back box in to the wall and use a metal back box instead to fit the plate flush.

You would need to get an electrician to chop a metal back into the wall to make it flush
