Raising a steel garage once it has been installed
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.44 PM
Is it possible to unbolt and jack up a steel garage after it has been installed on to a concrete pad? The garage was installed without being raised on some brickwork and subsequently it leaks from the base. Can it be raised in ordered to put a brick layer in for it to sit on? Additional - thank you for the responses. I will look into structural braces. But also think we would then have issues with the increased height to both the roller door and the pedestrian access door..??

Adjustable props need to be in place before you can even think to unbolt any steel.Once the necessary amount of props have been securely fitted in various locations to evenly spread the load of the steel then you can think of any necessary adjustments but it important to view the entire project before taking such decisions as the could be alternatives measures to take.

Not really, you may need a concrete base after raised or a similar extension beam bolted together according Strucural Engineer drawings details

Yes as long as its light enough to lift you could easily sit in on a couple of courses of bricks to keep it above ground level

The garage could be raised but there is no guarantee that there wouldn’t be any twisting or warping to the structure. Even with a brick course all the way round your still not guaranteed to not get damp or water ingress unless you installed a damp proof membrane and raised the floor level.
