Water on the inside of the lock
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.44 PM
Hi. When I remove my key from the lock on my door it is always really wet. The door was moved and refitted in the summer but it’s only as it’s got to winter that I’ve had this problem. Now in the last week the lock jams when I try and lock the door from the inside. Is there anything I can do?

Rain water is finding its way into the lock, and needs addressing, however simply trying to blow out the excess water and liberally spraying with GT85 will help to dispel the water and lubricate the lock until you find where the water ingress is coming from

Hello, this could be condensation from the cold weather outside reacting to the warm heating indoors. Spray some wd40 into the lock. This will keep the mechanism lubricated and prevent rust forming inside. I hope this helps. Thanks Steve.

Maybe if you go to a hardware shop and purchase some ub40 which comes in lock lubricant which is a special oil to penetrate rusty locks and mechanisms were needed
Many thanks Charlie cooper

Hi, GT 85 will disperse any moisture/ rainwater but if it's not locking from the inside,it could be that the core or the cam is jamming due to other factors eg faulty pins. Best to have the lock examined by a locksmith as it could permanently jam and cease to lock/unlock

You should really look to dry out the lock, and then for lubricating it, try using graphite powder.
