Eco 7 hot water not heating up overnight

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.06 PM

Hi there, Having an issue with the hot water as it won’t heat up over night. During the day I can put the emergency on which will heat it up but the timer seems broken on this as well and just stays heating up until I turn the timer off. Any thoughts? Thanks!

The eco7 element in your hot water cylinder has probably failed. Best to get a plumber to replace it.

Timer switch could be faulty or the thermostat could have cut out which is an easy fix if you turn the power off and remove cover from heating element there’s normally a little red or blue switch if you push on it to reset it

The eco 7 heating element it's located at the bottom of your tank, get a sparky to check that element. It's easy, remove the cover and check the continuity of the element. Or a live test checking the voltage at the terminals when it supouse to come on. If you have voltage there than it's a plumber job.

It's worth getting it tested properly before changing anything, there should be a thermostat in the immersion heater which could have failed, it may have a thermal cut out that can be re-set, it could be a faulty timer or faulty element, if you just start swapping things, you could be lucky and change the right thing first, or you could be unlucky and have it cost much more than necessary
