Roof leak when snow builds up

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.50 PM

Our bungalow has pitched tiled roof. One side has snow building up. The other side has no snow as it faces the sun. As snow is now melting, I found some wood rafters on the side with snow are wet. The other side is ok. It is not too bad, the wet areas are generally just below the felt and not dripping. I can also see water droplets at some of the felt joints down the slope. I believe there is no such leak even under heavy rain. I just wonder if this is a common issue with snow or something that needs to be repaired by a roofer. We live in Bromley. It generally snows once or twice a year. Thanks for you advice.

It will be condensation, the snow on the one side of the roof will be keeping it colder than the other side. Is there sufficient insulation and air flow in the roof space?
