DHW only Luke warm on full flow on tap but get hot when flow reduced

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.50 PM

2009 Baxi 105 HE combi. Been great boiler and never had any repairs, just servicing. Lately if I turn hot tap on full flow the hot water only gets warm at best. If the flow on the tap is reduce to maybe half of the full flow, the water gets very hot as it should do. Boiler pressure is all good with no leaks. Central heating side working fine. Any possible causes?

Possibly faulty thermistor or partially blocked plate heat exchanger

temperature on incoming main has dropped due to ice cold weather, it takes more energy and time to heat water to desired temperature, as with all combi boilers the slower the flow the hotter the water temperature.

Sounds like the flow rate is too much for the boiler to keep pace has anything been adjusted on the incoming mains ? Or if there’s no change it could be your heat exchanger plate isn’t working correctly
