Plastering & Rendering

Moisture Ressistant Board, Aquaboard or Cement Board

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.50 PM

Hi, I have a technical question regarding Moisture Ressistant Board and Aquaboard. I am in a process of plaster boarding all the downstairs walls (hallway, kitchen living room and dining room). As I had a damp problem I have carried out a damp proof course but as an added assurance I was thinking of using the Moisture Board on all the walls. I would like to know whether this will be suitable to use on walls with potential damp problem. Also can I use any Dry Wall adhesive or is there a specific adhesive I should use for dot and dab? Alternatively, which other panels can I use? Would a Aquaboard be suitable or even a Cement Board? Regards

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, it won't be an answer you would like to get but... Covering an issue is not a solution. First you need to sort out the damp. Then normal plasterboard will be sufficient. Spend more time to investigate why you are getting damp on the walls. Regards.

First of all damp proof has to be sorted Vertical and horizontal Then You can use green plasterboard With dump proof glue Plasterboard adhesive is not good for this type of work Good luck Michal

I did a job a few years back and used a solution which when drys turn rubbery which seals brick/ block work then thistle bonding can be used as long its 1mtre from floor this can solve the problem there are many ways to solve this you just have to investigate and use the appropriate product.
