How to attach flashing to corrugate steel wall
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.48 PM
I need to attach flashing to the base of my steel shed, but how do I fill the gaps created with each corrugation to make it watertight ? The gaps would be too big to fill with a silicone type sealant, I have looked at neoprene foam tape but not sure how that would work? Basically a flat surface attached to corrugated surface - how do I fill the gaps to keep it watertight? Any ideas?? Some one suggested using bitumen backed lead flashing tape - is that what was meant by the comment 'dressing the lead in to the corrugations" ?

Your probably best to use Flashband or similar, it’s a mouldable flashing alternative to lead and will stick to the steel if clean and sanded, you’ll need to buy the contact adhesive that it needs to stick and use a heat gun to help mould it down. I sometimes use an old towel to press the flashband down.

Yo would ideally cut the corrugated sheet and put the flashing behind it

If you have a concrete base which is overhanging the shed you could infill with a cement fillet, you could also paint it with bitumen after.
