How to remove a cupboard under the worktop without damaging either

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.59 PM

Bare in mind I am a single mum really bad with DIY...I have a tumble dryer coming and I decided to remove the end cupboard from under the worktop so I took all the inside screws that I could see 2 at top front two inside in the middle and two at the the back brackets that seemed to be holding against the wall, there's a hollow bit with a back cover which I'm not sure how to remove it seems this has been slotted in could there be more screws behind this? How do I remove this? I think this is the void bit... then I found out there were four legs on the bottom of the cupboard I windup the legs away from the floor thinking I could slide the cupboard out with no joy obviously, the bottom has two wooden bits each side right and left where the cupboard is sitting on, could these have some wooden bits going into the cupboard walls?... My question is what else I need to do to remove it, I can't see any more visible screws? There is also the question how am I going to support the worktop as there will be a 4cm gap to the tumble dryer and no space to put a leg , my first thought would be stick some wood on top of the tumble dryer and the worktop but in the long run not sure that's ideal or if it will damage the machine. Thanks for any help in advance

Check there’s not any more screws still in the sides of the carcass, also there will be two screws usually on the front stile at the top, remove them. Also you need to wind down there’s so it becomes easier to remove. To support the worktop you will need an end panel screwed top and bottom with ‘ L ‘ brackets .

Normally you have 2 brackets that are located at the back of the carcass screwed into the wall . And 4 screws located on the top to rails . And behind the hinge plate there may be another2 scews which attaches the carcasses together.once you have located all screws should just pull out .regards craig
