Plumbing

bigger pipes for new water main

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.59 PM

I'm having a new 25mm water main and I want to ensure I maximise flow rate and eliminate pressure drop at the shower. I have new 40kw combi and all pipework is 15mm at present. The feed branches off to bathroom, kitchen, boiler and utility shortly after entering property. I was thinking I would increase pipe size to 22mm until the branching. Will this make a difference or am I wasting my time?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I was thinking I would increase pipe size to 22mm until the branching. Will this make a difference or am I wasting my time? 15mm will do just fine there is no point to increase to 22mm the pressure you will have will be more then fine on the 15mm pipes.

Simples don't have a combination boiler it's a 15mm hot water outlet. You turn two taps on flow rate will drop to one. Best thing fit an unvented cylinder To boiler. Come of the balanced cold and your be OK. As long as u have a good flow rate in the mains

I don’t think it would make much difference to the pressure upping the water pipes to 22mm try getting a pressure increasing shower head. Being a 40kw should have a good flow rate aslong as your not using any other taps when showering. If your shower is electric the pressure won’t be great either

Larger pipes increase the water flow through the line, but if the water isn't up to that necessary flow, it won't increase your water pressure.
