Crack on external wall above window

We have noticed there to be a crack of a few CM within the window frame of on our external wall, it is above our window and also above our kitchen door within the window frame We have lived in the property 5 years . The house was built 43yrs ago. We are wondering what could have caused this and best solution for repair

Yes there is solution. You can put new lintel on top of your windows and door that will stop more damage in future.

It seems to me a settlement crack has occurred. Rake out the cracked mortar & some of the area & repoint as necesary. If it reoccurs you made need to see a structural engineer as your property may have movement or subsidence. I hope this helps.

Hi you haven’t supplied a lot of information about the materials that your house is made from Are the cracks in the ingle are they stone are they mortar Any how just rake them out and point them up and watch if the cracks reappear if they reappear have someone to look at them
