Exterior render repaired wall painting

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.49 PM

The front of the steps have been re rendered and the parts of the small wall to the side have been render repaired with a sand and cement mix 6 weeks ago. The weather has not been very good lately, so I wondered if it has been left long enough to now be painted. Next thing is can you paint across the new repaired render and the existing painted wall with the same paint. If so, can you still just use masonry paint or need something different? How long after it has been raining have you got to leave it before you can paint the wall? It is being done as a tidy up before selling the property, so not that worried about having to guarantee it is still okay in a few years time lol. For this reason, which paint would you recommend that is quite cheap and do you think that you could get away with doing just one coat? I look forward to hearing back with any advice and suggestions and thank you in advance.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would suggest if your doing one coat its best sprayed on then back rolled but even then i doubt you would get away with it lol. Go to Rawlinspaints.com and look up Wethertex AP77 Flexible Smooth Masonry Paint this gear its far superior then Sandtex or dulx by miles and the cost is competitive. You wont need pliolite as the water based is very good indeed and less exspensive. Good luck hope you get her done and sold up.

Masonry paint will be absolutely fine. If the substrate (surface) is completely dry it's best to water down the first coat(mist) to soak into the surface and give better adhesion for the next coat. Only use stabilising solution on a chalky or friable surface . If its solid a mist coat will be completely adequate.
