Can I build 18inch wall onto existing paving flag base.

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.49 PM

I have an existing flag base which has housed a shed for past 15 years at lowest point of garden. Intention is to raise this area to existing patio level this would require building 18 inch wall some 8 feet x 6feetx 6 feet. Filling with ballast and topping with new slabs. Can I build onto existing flags or would I need to excavate and create new foundations. The new raised area would house a summerhouse.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I recommend putting in a small footing 150 mill deep and slightly wider than the width of the wall , that will do the job nicely

I would excavate ground and do a new foundation min 150 mm deep concrete and do as wide as possible at least 400mm wide so wall will be stable as high wall
