Painting over hole in wallpaper?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.49 PM
Hiya, in my rented house I've bashed a hole in an obvious place in a wallpapered wall which has been painted. I have some spare paint, can I just put some filler in, sand and paint over? Thanks, photo attached if needed. Pete Thanks guys, very helpful!

This can be repaired, but just accords how big the hole is.
If the hole is not to big then as you have said repair with a filler let it dry and sand down and re paint.

Yes, exactly as you said. You can buy “poly filler” ready mixed which works well for small internal holes. Depending on the depth you may need to layer it, let the filler dry, then add some more to bring yourself away from the wall to allow for sanding back. Hope this helps.

If you still have some wall paper put a small piece over the hole and cut a triangle 10mm round the hole cutting in to the paper peeling off once done fill hole repaste triangle and stick to wall. If you just fill paper it will just stick out like the hole before

If it's a patterned wallpaper it will stand out like a sore thumb. Try B&Q or any large DIY store. You might be able to grab a free piece to fit.
