Gripper rods and bubbled vinyl

I have just had new flooring throughout the whole house, there were 3 options for carpet quality and i went for the middle one which i was told most people opted for and paid extra for 10mm underlay throughout with 8 mm on the stairs as i was advised that 10mm was too thick on the stairs. I was hoovering the day after they were fitted and as i collected up some loose bits from the edge of the room, i actually cut my finger on a gripper rod poking through. I then proceeded to check around the house and if you press the edge of the carpets, you can feel the sharp gripper rods through in numerous places. I was advised to leave my existing grippers down and that these would be reused and where necessary replaced. Surely i should not be able to feel them through the new carpet? I spoke to them on the phone to query, having initially being advised just to hammer it in, they then said that maybe the fitter should have bought a block that they hammer over? Surly if this is the case and for decorating purposes i need to pull up the carpet in the future how would this affect my getting it to stay back down again. Also i have had vinyl fitted in the bathroom as they said that laminate was not suitable although the current flooring was laminate, and this was fitted over the current flooring on their advice. I have an area that is not sitting flush to the floor there is what appears to be air underneath it so it's sort of bubbled up, is this correct? I mentioned it to the fitter before he left and he went up and said he had sorted it, but it is still like this, the same man that i spoke to about the gripper rods said i needed to leave this for a week to settle, is this correct? Thanks for any advice. It was laid on Thursday and Friday last week!
