Slopping Floor Near Doorway
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.31 PM
My living room floor slopes under the door leading to the hallway. Identifiable by the door having a air gap, gradually getting to an inch when at door frame. The skirting boards show no sign of slopping but you can feel it walking in the doorway and the floorboards in small hallway creak, and feel a bit unstable in same area next to the door. House was built in 1930s. Would a joiner deal with this or a builder. I'm unsure what trade ?

The problem is that the timber underneath are getting rotated with the time and you are getting the gap ,that can be sorted from a builder or a carpenter who know how to fix your timber issue.

Obviously you have a problem it’s more then likely Due to old age and/or movement in such an old building in my opinion it’s you would probably need a builder and a carpenter one to raise structure and the other to put everything back as it was. But unless I or anyone looks extensively first there’s no telling what it could be as a builder and for all the builders we do not have x-ray vision so to be totally honest unless I look at what needs to be done properly I can only suggest or advise many thanks Mike
