Vinyl Silk Emulsion on Top of Mist CostI

I have recently put a Mist Coat (watered down Matt Emulsion) on my kitchen ceiling. The ceiling was plastered a few months ago and is completely dry. Can I put Vinyl Silk emulsion on top of the Mist Coat ??

Hi Jim
You can put vinyl silk after the mist coat but you need to do about 3or4 coats of silk because silk paint don’t cover as much as Matt, ideally you need
Mist coat vinyl matt watered down
2nd coat vinyl matt not as much watered down as the mist coat
And then 2 more coats of vinyl silk

Good afternoon jim The coverage of vinyl silk or silk isn’t as good as most matt paints or vinyl matt if the mist coat has dried well I would do a coat of water down vinyl matt then a coat of vinyl matt on its own the you should be good to apply your silk coat probably 2 coats

Hi,I like the answer,the only thing after doing this job for 40 yrs have never met anyone who mixes PVA with the emulsion as you are painting onto a porous service,why do you add more water to paint that already contains water.A plasterer always PVAs before hand so it bonds as you need to for a miscoat
