Fit new internal door frame in opening and hang door

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.31 PM

Could someone tell me if £500 is too much to be paying for having new internal softwood door frame fitted in new plastered door opening and then hanging the pine door. Door, hinges and handles already bought, only require wood for framework. I live in Scotland in Fife, so shouldn't be affected by bigger city prices

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, To supply and fit a Softwood internal door frame with 2 sets of architraves, and to fit interior door with furniture (all supplied by customer, apart from architraves/frame). It would be £260-£285 approx, I think £500 is pretty steep (but obviously trades peoples fees vary, due to overheads, travel etc involved and different areas of the UK). Thanks, Matt (MDS Joinery & Glazing)

Supply and fit door liner and architrave and hang 1 door. I would say that’s a bit expensive

£500 to put in door frame no more like £750 Door frame will damage plaster work and internal frame if you have one Then make good plasterwork and surrounding areas before hanging door

£500 pounds to fit a door frame. I think that’s really excessive. More like £250 is a mor reasonable quote. If a tradesman can’t fit a door frame without trashing your plasterwork then I would get a different tradesman. Hope this helps.

Hi It would definitely depend on the quality of the doors and the wood itself. High quality fixing would take longer, materials being brought, travel, charges etc would also affect the price. If the materials would be brought by the customer, this would be expensive, however having to buy the materials separately would mean it’s a rough price average. Hope this helped. Valentin Botan.
