if a painter uses white paint then changes the colour to chalky white so half the celing looks too different types of paint should i pay even if its a smaller amount of money to put right or should i try to get someone else to do it ?? the celing looks like bits on it are missed too i need help on this please i am on a very low income has it is and its taken a very long time to save and get money together to decorate my flat that i rent i dont own it like he claims i do he also broke a catch on the window too and claims i am pedantic no i dont think i am i just want a nice job doing when i pointed out that the celing looks 2 different colours he claims that the hallway and kitchen looks lovely what hes done yes they all one colour

The decorator should not leave your job or you should not pay him until you are happy with work get him back

If the Ceiling has been coated using the same brand of paint then it should dry back the same shade, sounds like he’s used different brands or run out of paint. If bits are missed then it should be re-done and you should hold back a partial amount of the money agreed until finish is acceptable.

The paint has seemed to use a flat Matt and a vinyl Matt which is 2 different Sheens. One reflects more light than the other I would ask to have it finished all in the same paint

If he has left it half in chalky white and rest another colour he should go over everything so it all looks solid in one colour might need 3 coats to make it look a good job and if your not happy he should make sure it’s done properly then once your happy pay him hope you get sorted
