wager ingress in stormy rains
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.44 PM
Water ingress, lately with the `monsoon` rains, dripping down the kitchen walls etc. Any ideas what causing it. No issues with the room above the kitchen or kitchen extension. roof is not flat and is new, done few years back.

Hi
Do you have a flat roof on your kitchen extension ?
If so where the flat roof abuts the siding of the property, it’s possible that the flashing has separated from the wall which will allow rain water to run under the felting and down the wall. It only has to come away slightly and the wind will assist the leak. The leak doesn’t necessarily have to be directly above where the water is running in, it will find the pathway of least resistance.
(The flashing can also separate on a pitched roof, but it is usually visually obvious)

Is their a window near where the water is coming down the walls I would have to see it for myself to determine where and how it’s coming in if that helps
