What is the best way to stop bad squeaking of MDF top landing? Also, I want to Know the approximate cost of either replace both the top and bottom MDF landings with hardwood or cover the MDF with laminate. Top landing is approx 265mx190cm Bottom Landing is approx 108cmx174cm Your advice will be appreciated. Thank you

The only way would be to expose the underside of the stairs/landing Tighten the wedges and fit new glue blocks

The mdf on you landing and hall may be nailed and not screwed, this often causes squeaking. The answer would be to expose the areas and fix properly. The cost to fit new flooring would be subject to a visit to determine what is required. Chris 👍

If you can get access to the fixings holding the Mdf landings in place, carefully remove them and lift the Mdf out of the way. B &Q and several other diy stores carry a no squeak silicone that you apply to the top of all the timbers that the Mdf landings come into contact with then whilst it is wet, refit the landings. Your squeak will have gone away. I have used this product on numerous occasions, especially in lofts as boards on top of timbers rub together and can be very irritating.
