Exhaust fan with humidistat in loft room

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.05 PM

Hello, Been having problems with a converted loft room (it can't legally be called a bedroom so it's effectively a storage room. It's very, very damp when I don't open the window (walls are visibly wet) and I am concerned about the timber roof. My survey suggests I get a exhaust fan with humidistat installed; is that something which would fall under the remit of an electrician? Would just having a dehumidifier running in the space negate the need for an exhaust fan? It seems a little OTT to have a fan installed. Thanks, Mark

Firstly the roof area should have been properly ventilated, if this isn’t the case you will need to install a PIV fan these provide a positive air flow and the combat the damp and mould.
