Boiler service service manual question

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.49 PM

I had my boiler booked in for a service and at the beginning of the service it was found that there was a reading for co was showing at the washer and outlet seal and therefore a gas warning/advice notice was issued, the service manual was not filled in without any details for the service which took place. The worker was reluctant to fill it and mentioned that he would issue the advisory notice instead. Should the service menial have been filled in with the details found from the service visit?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Engineer has not to fill up the MI service shit. As long as he give you a warning advice notice and label your appliance. If you have had CO leak from your boiler it is ID and at this case the should have turn off your boiler off with your permission.

Duo to the co leak, the boiler service was not completed. Therefore the service paperwork could not be filled in.

You cannot modify a gas appliance, Therefore sealing the hole or patching it up wasn't a option, he would be required to replace whatever was causing the leak of Co, If this wasn't possible at the time or he didn't have authority then a boiler leaking Co is ID and should be shut off with a warning notice put in place. He wouldn't have filled out the service record as the boiler has been shut off and not tested/serviced.

The engineer was right to halt the service and categorise your boiler as either at risk or immediately dangerous. Either way the boiler must be off until it’s fixed. The service book can then be signed off. He’s looking out for your safety. Get him to quote the repair required.
