Wet underfloor heating with Floorboards
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.49 PM
Hi everyone, I am planning on installing a retrofit underfloor heating system between the joists (as I don’t have much room to raise the floor level). The property was built in the 50s and has tongue & groove floorboards in which I plan to remove and then re-lay once I have installed the UFH system, and then cover with 15mm herringbone engineered wood flooring. Is it ok to have floorboards on top of UFH or would I need to replace the floorboards for another material such as plywood or chipboard?

Best option here would be to find out from your underfloor heating supplier if the material you want to use is best suited or what best material is best to act as a buffer between your under floor heating and room as all materials can have different affects and impede or strengthen the use of your underfloor heating.
