How to fill an inspection chamber after moving

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.48 PM

Hi, we have 70 year old inspection chamber (shared) that unfortunatley will sit directly in the corner of a new extension we plan to build. I'm aware we will need a build over agreement and we will need to move the manhole further down to allow for access. But I wondered whether we would have any further issues being as this will be directly under a corner? Or is it a case of new pipes would be connected and then the hole left is effectively filled in and footings can be poured? (We would like to keep as much pipework in place as possible to save on costs)

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi you will be moving the inspection chamber to a more suitable place. old chamber will be removed and all pipes cut. They will then install a new chamber and then join new pipe from the existing pipe to the new chamber and back fill you will then be able to pour your foundation with no issues . If a blockage was to happen you will have access from the new manhole so there would be no issues Hope this helps

The pipes running into the manhole will have to be taken back further up the pipe run and redirected away from build intended and installing a new inspection chamber further down connecting into the service
