Old fuse box replacement?

Moved into old flat, with old 60 amp fuse box high up on wall, need this upgrading ASAP but what's the process and can I just pay a good electrician to do it? Northern Powergrid are coming to do a site visit to then upgrade us to 100amps but what about the old fuse box, we need to upgrade that to a modern one with all the circuit breaker switches, can an electrician do this, or would a rewire be needed first? What's the rough estimate for swapping the old fuse box for a new one too please? Sorry for any wrong terminology, don't know much about this. Thanks for any help guys.

There is no need to change the fusebox just because its old. If you really want to change it then £600 is average price. I would advise against asking Northern Power to do it they will charge double that. Just use a good electrician. Northern Power will be responsible for upgrading meter (if needed) and cut-out.

Hi you need to do Electrical Installation Condition Report first to assess the condition of cables etc. To do the Report and upgrade the consumer unit with bonding and earthing would cost around £550. Regards ATL ELECTRICAL

When you move into a older property you dont know what you will inheret electrically as most of the cabling is hidden within the building. A thorough Electrical Installation Condition Report would be a good place to start and will let you know if the property needs a rewire or just an upgrade of the consumer unit.
