Ventilation for a gas cooker

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.30 PM

My parents have just moved in to a bungalow. They ordered a new has cooker to be delivered and installed but the installation team said they couldn't complete the job as there was not enough ventilation in the kitchen. It appears that the previous owner have moved the kitchen and then built a conservatory on the one external wall. There is a section of the week, about 20" wide that is still external. Can anyone tell me what ventilation will be required before the cooker can be installed?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

There must be an openable window in the room where the appliance fitted, also it maybe necessary to increase the ventilation depending on the area m3 or if another appliance either in the room or another room. There is another reason for more ventilation and this could be an extractor or ceiling fans.

As far as I can recall a gas cooker doesn't need any direct ventilation to the outside only gas fires and boilers etc. I suppose the area of the kitchen is of normal size so I'm not quite sure what they mean unless regulations have changed since I done my gas.
